Tour to Muang On Cave

Muang On Cave : One of the Landmark in Chiangmai

Discover the tempting Muang On Cave and run through relaxing moment in the cave, Muang On Caves are full with lovely stalactites and stalagmites.

A larger and more illustrious cave system near Chiang Mai is the Chiang Dao Caves system. It is around 70 Klm north of Chiangmai. Rather, the Muang On Cave system is nearly as fascinating and is not as full of vacationers.
Muang On Cave is situated in the Sankamphang Area, approximately 30 km East of Chiang Mai near the hot Springs. The road leading to Muang on Cave winds it's way up the side of a hill to a small park. You'll find several seller selling food and mementos here and you can find a lot of shaded chairs available. If you don't have a water container, it is a good idea to get a cold drink here as it can be a hot clamber.
Go a few steps further and you’re at the foothill of of Naga-flanked stair that leads to a platform where a few stewards sell low-cost fees and rent flashlights (you don’t need one). You have the selection to go into the caves, or ascend a small and impossibly long stairway to the top of the mountain, where you should be treated to good-looking valley views, so long as it isn’t burning period. A lot of monkeys live in the surrounding trees; they’re exciting to see, but don’t feed them!
Leading up from this area is a erect stairway of 187 steps. At the top lies a big circular 'sala' with superb perspectives of the surrounding countryside. Just above this is the entry to the canister. As you walk into and trek around, you will encounter several hilly stairs going down along with several flat walkways in between. What’s particularly interesting is that you do not need to duck your head as you wander around as all of the cave within the structure are astonishingly high. Fluorescent lights have been artfully sited around to light the place while retaining the look and feel of natural rock formations.
The tunnel walls are slippery and rounded in the shape of the gyration pools of water that formed them. Here and there a small stalactite drip from the roof and an occasional petrified river of dazzling diamond like stain on the wall. The sheer path continues to the tunnel floor which is shiny by mysterious pools of smooth light from florescent tubes that provide lighting all along the way. just about halfway down to the cave floor is a weird group of two foothing images resting on a great natural ledge. Four of these are old men and one takes the uncommon form of a cow's head on a human body.

Where creative minds see a formation of an animal or an image of the buddha meditating, a shrine pops up underneath. Herds of small ceramic creature figurines hide in corners under stalactites bearing their appearance. Groups of dolls dancing sit in front of a lady’s figure looming in the darkness of bowing walls. Cobras line up under the serpent’s form. A huge stalagmite becomes a chedi. Statistics of Buddha loom in many corners. The vignettes under the rock forms recall the strong story of Thai animism; the figurines in pockets of the caves are the same as those in lots of spirit houses.
Tour to Muang On Cave : Journey out of Chiangmai across Nawarrat Bridge and go along Charernmuang Road. Go directly ahead when you reach the superhighway and continue on past the silverware, lacquerware, textiles and carving factories through Sankamphaeng - Bor sang umbrella village and take a right at the sign for Muang On Cave in Mae On district. The Thai villagers would gather their necessary stuff and food supplies before seeking refuge in the sheltering caves. In the present day, a travel to MuangOn Cave makes for a memorable day pilgrimage, especially when compound with a restorative visit to the nearby sizzling Springs.

Wat Chedi Luang

If you only have time for one wat. Wat Chedi Luang is the answer

Chidi Luang temple is also often called the Jedi Luang or the wat of The Great Chedi.

Wat Chedi Luang means “royal chedi” and this was the official temple of the Lanna kings situated as it was next to the earlier royal palace. The wat was originally built in the 14th-15th centuries and has been partly renewed more just though the ruined chedi wasn’t reconstructed since evidently no-one is absolute what it was supposed to appear to be.
When Ruler Saenmuangma was 39 years old and had ruled for 16 years when he started to construct the grand pagoda Chedi in the center of his metropolis Chiang Mai. It was built in 1391AD. After about 10 years whilst formatting was going on, he died. His queen had the top of the pagoda finished. When done it was nearly 300 ft high (90m. probably due to stability problems the perfect ordinarily took until mid-15th century to be completed between the reign of ruler Tilokaraj. In 1468, the holy relic the Emerald Lord buddha was installed in the eastern channel.
Attractions in Chidi Luang temple
The great Stupa
The original Stupa was constructed in 1391 and by 1475 some expansion to area to it's current building. At one point, this Pagoda housed the Emerald Buddha for six years. In the mid 1500's an earthquake cause the harm that can be seen nowadays. The original height was 84 m. but the current height after the earthquake is 60 m.. All 4 sides have a grand staircase leading to the pinnacle. I preferably liked the stone Naga's on either side of each staircase. There is a groove that houses a golden Buddha at the top of the stairway. It is quite spectacular.

The viharns
The large viharn (assembly hall) beyond to the ruined pagoda was constructed in 1928. Its touching interior, with round columns sustaining a high red ceiling, contains a standing Buddha called the Phra Chao Attarot. Made of brass alloy and chalk, the Lord buddha dates from the time of the temple's founder, Ruler Saen Muang Ma (late 14th century).
The Sao Inthakin or city pillar
A little building houses the city pillar or Sao Inthakin of Chiangmai. The Sao Inthakin is assumed by native citizens to protect the city. Nearby is a small shrine constructed to house the guardian nymphs who delivered the Sao Inthakin over from Paradise.
Dipterocarp trees
Dwarfing the city pillar holy place is one of the three gum trees assumed to forfend the city from all vile. Legend has it that if this tree ever falls, a great danger will follow.
Monk converse
A monk chat club is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the northern side of the grounds. Drop in to converse with them about Buddhism, a monk's life, Thai ethnicity or other relevant topics. They get to train English, and you get face time with a Buddhist monk. (Ladies, be sure not to touch them as it is taboo.) As their sign says, "Don't just stand looking from afar and walk away."
Amazing grounds and fine-looking structures. At around 5:00 the monks arrived for litany. It was surreal to hear them sing and look at them pray. On key Buddhist holidays, such as Visakha Buja, Chidi Luang temple is where worshippers confabulate for the evening candle procession. A distinctive roller system allows wayfarer to leave offerings and prayers atop the chedi during the day. The temple is located on Phra Pokklao Road and is easy to find, since the chedi is one of the tallest structures in the old town.
If you are entering ancient City through the eastern Tha Phae Gate, keep going straight and soon you would approach Chidi Luang temple (Temple of the Giant Stupa) on your left. Don’t forget to also drop by the gorgeous Wat Phan Tao directly nearby to it. A must do!! Very stunning structure and optimistically you can find a budget Chiang Mai day tours with guide that is educated about its history and combine with other important temples in old city.
Starting hours are from 6.00am - 5.00pm Doesn't price to enter.

Having lunch at the Tiger Kingdom. Very unique encounter at Tiger Kingdom.
Tiger kingdom was a wonderful experience, decisively what I hoped for. At firstly I took very irritable when I saw the tigers walk around in cages and their open habitat. I thought, "what am I making. I'm not going to be able to survive patting a tiger." But rather after getting inside the area with the tigers with the staffs, I felt protected. The tigers were nice-looking relieved at around noon, I meditate it was getting close to their nap time. So they were very cooperative and relieved. Their breath was normal to fast so I don't think the tigers were drugged, which I've view that voyager suspect at these tiger area. I essentially learned that these tigers have several generations of being born in domesticity, so I think they're quite used to tourist. I selected big head in the small cat, that meant the biggest Tiger and the babe. The babies are very playful and ridiculousness even 2 year olds were lying on them and having a great time.

Other popular temptation include Gibbon Island, a series of enclosure less islands where Gibbons are free to live and breed, the Freshwater Aquarium, native land to sixty kinds of tropical freshwater fish and the Cape Fur Seal illustrate. Chiang Mai Atr and Culture Centre

Private Tours Chiang Mai to Arts and Culture Centre

The Chiang Mai City Arts and Culture Centre is site to introduces you to the beginning of Chiang Mai town, its record and evolving customs , an induction to the Royal families & infrastructure of Chiang Mai.

Place on Prapoklao Way, Chiang Mai city Arts and Cultural midpoint stands on the position of the previous royal hall. Created in 1924 with stylish architectural model, the building was first used as the central administrative offices of Monthon Phayap, later as the Provincial Hall of Chiang Mai until the town renovated it for the cultural cener in 1997. The restoration of the middle has earned the municipality the award from the Royal Society of Siamese Architects in 1999. Visitors is always more rewarding when you've an knowledge of the chronicle and traditions of your vacation spot. With some prior information, all those monuments and landmarks become much more applicable. But if you don't have the time or inclination to read up on the the past of Chiangmai & north of Thailand, the starting places you can visit here is the Chiang Mai city Arts and Culture Centre.
The first ground has several rooms focusing on the ancient record of the county and the progress of the town. The second ground focuses on the present overabundance of cultures that exist in the province & an inauguration to Buddhism. The museum opened fairly just (1999 is my guess) and serves as a visitor's center to the walled piece of the city. Signs are in Thai & English while audio presentations in each hall are in Thai, Mandarin, German, French, English.
The actual site of the Arts & Cultural Center is on the original "navel of the ctit town". On any map of the vintage ctit town, you might find it almost smack-dab-in-the-middle of the square. During the height of the Lanna Kingdom's last royal dynasty, the site was used for the royal hall. The Pagodas of the ctit town Navel was built here in the 13th century, & still stands on the south side of the construction. It was initially created in the Haripunchai (Lamphun) style but has been restored and renovated throughout the city's history. This historic site also housed the ancient Inthakhin city pillar before it was moved to nearby Chedi luang temple. The Three Kings Monument in front of the structure commemorates the three 13th century kings who chose the auspicious site for the "new ctit town" of Chiangmai.
The site was used for a royal hall from where the ruler administered Chiang Mai . When Inthawichayanon passed away it went into the possession of his daughter, Chao Dararatsmi, who granted the site to be used for a ‘government hall’ when the monthon was established. When the vintage building remained empty. At the end of 1997, the municipality requested permission to renovate the building in order to turn it into the Chiang Mai city Arts and Culture Centre. The renovation received an award in 1999 for preservation of a public construction from the Royal Society of Siamese Architects.
Opening Hours: Tuesday-Sunday (including public holidays) 8.30-17.00 hrs. Admission is 90 Thb
For only 90 baht we expected it to be minimum but were impressed with how nice it truly was. Everything was available in English as well & commonly translated well. Overall we thinking this was a great way to discover a bit about the county. If you would like more information for private tour or join in group tour program you can contact Chiang Mai Travel Agency in the city.
